HIGH SCHOOL

Mr. Richard Drass « Teacher Connection / Documents / Calendar

Dear Students/Parents,

As we move forward together in this new online learning environment, I want to assure you that I will do my best to be available to both students and parents via daily web meetings and e-mail.

I have partnered with CodeHS in order to provide a number of relevant assignments and online lessons for my Programming Essentials and WEB Technologies students.  For some of my students, these exercises will be a good review for their upcoming certification examinations.

AP Computer Science Principles students will be starting their College Board Create Task, on Monday March 30th.  Before this project gets underway, each student needs to submit a project plan to me by Friday March 27th, 11:59pm.

All of my courses now have a related Google classroom that students need to join.  Google classrooms will be our main source of communication regarding assignments and classroom expectations.

I have set up two video conference sessions each day: a morning session between10am and 11am and an afternoon session between 1:30pm and 2:30pm.   These sessions are meant to be a check in for all students and a place where they can ask questions in a face-to-face forum.  Students are only expected to attend one of these two sessions each day.  Once I have marked the student as present, and if there are no questions, they may leave the video session and get to work on their assignments.  Daily attendance is mandatory for all of my students.

For those students who are concerned about Certification Exams, please be assured that the school administration and I are doing our best to make sure that these very important exams take place.

I know we have some challenges to overcome with this new format and at times things might seem a bit tough.  Fortunately, Information Technology can be adapted very well for online learning. Whatever challenges we encounter, I am sure we can overcome.
